On the last night before Blackrock lighthouse is automated, widowed keeper Elias Kerr hears knocking from inside the locked lamp room, where the logbook’s oldest rule waits: never answer the third knock. When a voice wearing his dead wife’s words begs to be let in, Elias must count the knocks, face what the rule was really protecting, and decide whether to answer anyway.
